"I can't wait for November. I can't wait for November." I must have told my wife, Janelle, that phrase a hundred times. About a month ago, I was at work editing articles about dentists and doctors and door repair when I came across a video by Matt Cutts.
You should watch that video. It's right there.
I think we all sometimes feel like we have all these huge, wonderful goals but rarely accomplish those goals -- entirely. I sometimes feel like that too. When I saw this video, I wanted to change that, and I felt like I wanted to do tons and tons of 30 day challenges, just in the first month. That will never work. The reason why a 30 day challenge is effective, is because it breaks up seemingly ginormous goals, into easy-to-chew, bitesize pieces. So I began studying and found tons of great ideas and things that I would like to do. Others, not so much. Everywhere that I read about 30 day challenges, I found suggestions on sharing and documenting the challenge.
I think I saw that video for the first time on like the 4th or 5th of October and I was so excited to start my own 30 day challenge. I remember feeling upset because we were already into October and I didn't want to start only part-way through. I'm OCD like that.
So I waited a whole month, started making a list of 30 day challenges that I wanted to do, spent some time in Arizona with some cool people, jacked up my foot at a park, and took some mid-term tests, all the while, so excited to start my own 30 day challenge.
And that's what I'll do. Here.
You can do anything you'd like, too! It can be easy or it can be difficult. I recommend first thinking about what kind of person you'd like to become. 5 years from now, who do you see yourself as? What kinds of things does that person do? What hobbies, talents, interests, and views does that person have? Then start writing. Jot down ideas as they come to your head. I used Google Drive to keep track of all mine. Then pick however many you feel you can handle. And just start. These ideas can get you thinking...
- Exercise for a set amount of time each day.
- Eat healthy for thirty days.
- Write a 50,000 word novel in one month.
- Do something that scares you every day. Send someone you know a kind letter.
Part of the fun comes from analyzing what you desire and setting your own! As for me, I'll be starting off with two 30 day challenges for the first month.
- I will record a short video/take a picture everyday and make a video journal of my first month's 30 day challenge -- November 2013!
- I will work out everyday, except Sunday, for 30 minutes at least.
Happy Life Changing!
